In the past he has also served on the faculty at Wittenberg University, as Principal Tubist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and as a founding member of the Carillon Brass.    Dr. Winteregg holds degrees in music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Wright State University, and The Ohio State University. He studied composition with William Steinohrt, Gregory Proctor, and Thomas Wells.    Steven Winteregg has received dozens of awards in composition, including first prizes in competitions sponsored by the New Louisville Brass Quintet, the International Horn Society and the International Trumpet Guild. He has also received Individual Artist Fellowships from the Montgomery County Cultural Arts District and the Ohio Arts Council, a Music Citation from the Ohioana Library Association, and an Ohio Senate Resolution commending him for his contribution to the arts in Ohio.    He is the composer of four full-length ballets, the most recent, There Was a Time, was premiered by The Dayton Ballet in 2006. He has worked with choreographers such as Dermot Burke, Christian Holder, Stephen Mills and Gregory Robinson. Winteregg's compositions have been performed in the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia and by orchestras such as the Cincinnati Symphony, the Columbus Symphony, the Czech Radio Symphony, the Delaware Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony, the Sarajevo Philharmonic and the Symphony of Augsburg. His compositions have been recorded by various groups such as the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Radio Symphony and the United States Air Force Singing Sergeants. Recordings of his music have been released on the Albany, MMC, Integra, Equilibrium and ERM Media labels.
