Clever sixteenth note interplay makes it almost sound like a contest between players.
Duet for Two Incomplete Trumpets
Kevin McLaughlin
Duet for Two Incomplete Trumpets was written at the University of Michigan in 1983 by American composer and trumpet player Kevin McLaughlin while he was an undergraduate. Players remove their 2nd valve slide before beginning, resulting in “stereophonic” and unusual, jazzy effects. There are short solo areas for each player, resembling improvisation. A light and entertaining work for the players as well as the audience.
Fun recital piece by American composer McLaughlin. Players remove their 2nd valve slide before beginning, resulting in some unusual, almost jazzy effects. Clever sixteenth note interplay makes it almost sound like a contest between players. There are short solo areas for each player. Mutes are used throughout. Good practice on chromatic scales. Entertaining for the players as well as the audience.
