Four Little Duos
Robert Dickow
For flute and clarinet. Really nice recital material for advanced players. Stravinskyesque technique and textures. The first movement is an Allegro moderato with sweeping arpeggios, grace notes, and trills. The second movement is Presto piacevole, lots of staccato and leaping intervals. It moves from 6/8 to 7/8. The third movement is Lento, angular and full of trill work. The fourth movement is an exciting Allegro molto with terrific interplay between the parts. A very well crafted composition. Dickow studied composition with Andrew Imbrie, Edwin Dugger, Ollie Wilson, and Joachin Nin-Culmell at the University of California at Berkeley receiving his B.A.. , M.A., and PhD. degrees in composition. He has composed works for orchestra, band, chorus, chamber music and electronic media. He studied in London as a recipient of the George Ladd “Prix de Paris” and held teaching positions at Berkeley, Lionel Hampton School of Music UI, and Transylvania University.
