Night Skies

This engaging work for solo euphonium has three movements: Mysterious Planets, Shooting Stars, and Wormholes. The music is reflective of the movement titles. The first movement is in 4/4, slower introduction and then a faster section. Shooting Stars is a wonderful articulation study with muted staccato notes throughout. It translates in sound the image of shooting stars. Wormholes is technically challenging with fast tempos and fast rhythm values, quick changing articulations, trills, a short motivic bursts. This advanced work would be a great choice for college recitals.
