Description
Sonatina for Flute and Piano
David Morris
Australian composer, David Morris earned a diploma at Trinity College of London in composition and later earned the Fellowship in Composition. He has taught in Australia and South Korea, and has been involved with many choral groups. The first movement of the flute sonatina, Grave, is in Eb minor, and has a rich chordal background in the piano while the flute plays a simple melody. The second movement, Allegretto scherzando has mixed meter 11/8, 13/8, 15/8, 8/8 giving the work a jaunty feel. The tonal center is Eb. The interplay between the piano and flute make this work an excellent choice for college student recitals.
