Description
Trumpet Tune for Two Trumpets and Organ
 Henry Purcell
arranged by John Schnell and David Maxwell
This piece, as with other voluntaries from the Baroque era, was originally written for keyboard. Scholars cannot agree as to whether Purcell, Clarke, Leveridge, or Purcell’s younger brother Daniel actually wrote this piece. The tune is stated by the trumpets, and when restated, the tune is greatly embellished. The organ pedal part usually doubles the bass line of the left hand, so this could be played on piano if desired. This is a standard for wedding ceremonies.
