Manduca Music Studios Calendar 2020-2021

SEMESTER 1: Monday, September 21-Friday, December 18th

Piano Group Weeks: Group classes take the place of your regularly scheduled private lesson. Refer to
the group schedule for specific times. Weeks of: November 30, December 7 and 14. If we are able to
meet in person, we will work on our ensemble music. If online-performance literature and theory.
***Please note the change here. There are the same number of lessons, but we will start a week later and end a week later in December.

Holiday Breaks: There are no lessons during Thanksgiving week November 23-27, and winter school vacation December 21, 2020 to January 3, 2021.

MTNA State, Division and National Competitions, Bangor Symphony Concerto Competition, and Bay Chamber Competitions: In order to participate in these high level competitions, a student must
have been working on a program for a full year prior to entering. Composition students just need to have their finished piece before the September state deadline.
There has been nothing announced as to whether these competitions will be held.

Recital of Seasonal Music: In the last two group classes, we will put together a video of seasonal music that we can present to our relatives and friends. We’ll research the historical background of the music, and add that to our presentation. Attire should be seasonal dressy. There will be 7-10  performers in each program.

SEMESTER 2: Monday, January 4 to Friday, June 4, 2021

Piano Group Weeks: February 8, April 12, May 17, 24, and 31 in preparation for the ensemble concert.

School Vacation Breaks: February 15-19 and April 19-23 no lessons

Spring Recital: Schubertiade
When Austrian composer Franz Schubert (1797-1828) participated in concerts put on for a small group of friends and fans, these intimate gatherings became known as “Schubertiads”. Most of the music was by Schubert. Our concert will include Beethoven, Clementi, and Mozart as well. We will act out the soiree by
introducing ourselves as the composers and give some information about the work prior to performing it.

Maine Music Teachers Association Pine Tree State Competition in May
No decision has been made concerning whether this will be held virtually, in person, or at all. Students who have been preparing for this should continue working on their programs until further notice.

June Piano Ensemble Recital: June 3 or 4
