Kevin McLaughlin
studied trumpet at the University of Michigan, Yale University, the University of Minnesota, and in Vienna, Austria. His primary teachers were Manny Laureano and Armando Ghitalla, and Karl Steininger. He has performed as a soloist in France, Scotland, Austria, and Germany. He took composition courses at the University of Michigan and at Yale, and has written several popular pieces for his instrument. He has taught trumpet at Saint Olaf College, Truman State University, and at CalArts. A professional librarian since 2000, he has served as Director of the libraries at San Francisco Conservatory and (currently) at the Cleveland Institute of Music..
