Description
Concertante Antiphonale for Ten Trombones
David Uber
Dedicated to the members of the International Trombone Association, Concertante Antiphonale by ASCAP award winning composer Uber is “a musical salute to the beautiful sonority that may be achieved through the medium of antiphonal trombone choirs.” The piece is scored for 10 trombones divided into two antiphonal choirs. The individual choirs should be separated by about fifty feet. The parts of each choir may be doubled. Although the work contains many dissonant passages and harmonies, it is basically tonal in design. The use of the intervals of a second highlights the bright resonant tones of the trombones. Syncopated rhythm patterns that occur may be played with a light jazz feel.
