Composed for and premiered by Timothy Anderson, Assistant Professor of Trombone at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. The piece pays tribute to the great African-American poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar. The piece can be performed with the appropriate Dunbar poem read with each movement. The banjo and the piano provide a wonderful and unique accompaniment to the trombone. The movements are: Philosophy, Theology, Â Hymn which is for trombone and piano only, and When Malindy Sings.
