Each of these eight intermediate pieces is inspired by a specific emotion. Seymour Bernstein left the pieces untitled and added a list of descriptive words to encourage the student to decide what emotion best describes the work. The words they choose can become their own titles. Seymour writes, “Be aware that every notational mark on the printed page has a corresponding emotional intent..every feeling, every emotion corresponds to the physical movements and sensations in your fingers, wrists, arms, torso, and feet. It is through these choreographic movements and sensations that your feelings are transmitted into sounds.”
