Description
Musical Chair Variations for 4 Pianos, 16 Hands, and Referee
Arthur Frackenpohl
For 4 pianos, 16 hands, referee, and chair remover! If you are planning a group recital or monster concert, this piece will delight players and audience alike with its staging hi-jinx. Clever variations are based on Won’t You Come Home, Bill Bailey by Hughie Cannon. The players are assigned either a secondo or primo part and when the referee blows the whistle, the musical chairs begin with the removal of one seat. The eliminated player sits off to the side until one of the last movements where all eliminated players get to sing Bill Bailey. The last remaining player gets to play the grand finale of Bill Bailey in various orchestral guises. Optional: If necessary, this can be staged so that each player learns only one part, instead of learning all eight parts. Highly recommended as an unusual on a concert!
