Franz Joseph Haydn

transcribed by Paul Greenstone

Dr. Paul Greenstone of Cornell College has transcribed this important work for modern tubists. Haydn originally wrote it for the rarely heard baryton, a large member of the viola d’amour family. Over 125 of these trios were written for Prince Esterhazy’s own use. This trio was originally written for the baryton, viola and cello and was in the key of D Major. Greenstone has transcribed it in the key of Eb major to make it more accessible to brass playing fingerings. There are three movements: Allegro, Menuet, and Finale.
