Under the Waterfall is a descriptive piece about a boy floating down a river to a waterfall. A good addition to our Music By Young People series.
Under the Waterfall
Pianist Bessieres is a young composer who has already received critical recognition for her composing talents. This lovely violin duet is a programmatic work about a boy’s encounter with a waterfall. The piece was the runner up in a California MTA high school composition contest. It is a descriptive piece about a boy floating on a gentle current in a river. It is lyrical in 5/4 and 3/4 time but the rhythmic values get faster as he approaches the waterfall. Feeling very free, he plays under the waterfall and sings with the birds.
