Praetorius based a great deal of his music on Lutheran hymns. The first piece in this set is Omnis Mundus Jocundetur (Let the Whole World Rejoice) and was written in 1607. The second piece Psallite Unigenito, 1609, translates to Sing in Honor of the Only Begotten. They are excellent works for church ceremonies.
